responding to the space/place that i will occupy on the performance day and time allocated to me.
The performance will be either live from the venue, or live on facebook if the artist wont be present at the performance venue but somewhere else.
I am Lady Gaby, a performance/visual artist & curator, who finds artistic inspiration in my surroundings. Provocative, in-your-face performances dealing with feminism and social justice, I create installations/works with feminine, common everyday objects, recycled materials, words and street art. Via Romania/Australia and since the fall of the Wall, Berlin is where I found my feet, my ideals and performance power to go against the flow and the patriarchal system. I graced the stages of many international cities as a performer & curator.
My surroundings inspire and drive my work. My creativity comes organically from what I see and what I hear. My artistic aim is to express my desires and hopes for a better world away from consumerism, sexism, capitalism and social injustice. I believe that our values and lifestyles have been influenced too much by the media and corporations that are taking away our self confidence and the need to think for ourselves in what we desire and aim for.

In this piece, I offer 1-to-1 divination to my participants, using a method stated in the ancient Chinese text I-Ching. The participant brings in a question, and I toss three coins for six times to form a hexagram that responds to their question, like an echo, or a ripple.
This piece was last presented at The Palace of Ritual, during the preview days of the 58th Venice Biennale Arte. For the online version, I plan to use Jitsi (a web-based video conference tool), webcam, and other elements on my desktop to interact with participants: to answer their questions, or to bring chance and new ideas at this time of change and confusion.

THE MANNEQUIN IN THE BOX
(1st of 2)
“The mannequin in the box” is a part of the full piece calls “Mannequin dėmodė”, create by Unai Alvarez in collaboration with Gastón Toloza (Clothes designer) and Marko Helbig (Musician). The first approach of the project was performed in Migrats Festival 2020 (Valencia) and later, was developed in TraumaBarundKino residency (2021). The full piece talks about the gender norms in clothes and how those established patterns are confronted by an entity who doesn't fit in that box.
A mannequin is the aseptic character that has been chosen representing the meeting point between society and clothes. The part of the piece that is shown belongs to the first part of the project, when the entity awakes from a suitcase and starts the tough searching of who it is and the confrontation with its vulnerability. In the end of this part, the mannequin starts facing the suitcase and what is inside.

a video performance titled, Tracing Berlin,
The performance, Tracing Berlin, will be a video performance, based on the Spoken word piece, Tracing Berlin, written and performed by me, where I remember my reasons for living here and tracing my experiences in this city over the last 20 years.
The performance, Tracing Berlin, will be a site specific public intervention video performance, 15minutes long, me performing/walking alongside the historical EAST SIDE GALLERY, which is a 1km long piece of the BERLIN WALL that is kept and it is Europe's largest open air gallery.
tracing the past and attempt to construct a narrative of my future experiences here, to remember where I belong as right now I am displaced feminist, trying to find and reclaim the liberties and my position that I have lost.

In Situ LAB
In Situ LAB is a space for experimentation and research, where visual art and instant composition merge. Objects, bodies, sounds, spaces meet and compose instantaneous images. It is a collective composition where each participant brings his own objects and a fragment of his universe. The emphasis is on composition in relation to place. In situ singularly revisits the adjoining human and urban territory, one’s daily lives and the collective images around it.
In Situ LAB is a derivative of the Atelier LAB, carried out in situ. The emphasis is on composition in relation to place. In situ singularly revisits the adjoining human and urban territory, one’s daily lives and the collective images around it.
Composition of 20 - 40 min; Limited choice of objects and materials in a chosen environment; Each composition happens in a different space. The video framing is consciously integrated into the collective composition process. The captured composition is publicly presented online in the form of a short video montage or of a series of photographs.
